Jack P. Healey, CPA, CFF, CFE

CEO, Bear Hill Advisory Group

Jack is an executive with over 35 years of leadership experience. A career which started with one of the ‘big four’ accounting firms, he became Partner in Charge of Assurance Services for a regional firm. After 16 years in public accounting he was one of the founders of a ‘roll up’ of specialty industrial distributors. The group merged nine specialty distributors and simultaneously initiated going public transaction on the NYSE; raising $160 million in equity and $100 million in debt. As an operational CFO of this $700 million business, he acted as COO for several years with most business functions reporting to him including the China and Mexican operating units. After 12 years the company was sold in a ‘going private’ transaction. In 2009, Mr. Healey formed Bear Hill Advisory Group a firm dedicated to assisting organizations improve processes, manage risks and embed resiliency into their business governance and operations.

Bear Hill Advisory Group focuses on business risk, interim CFO/COO services, operational process improvement, cybersecurity incident response preparation and remediation, operational risk assessments and ethics training for CFO’s and Board of Directors. In 2016, Bear Hill Advisory purchased Genesis Management and merged into Bear Hill Advisory Group. 

Sample engagements have included:

  • Acted as interim CFO for $350 million produce distributor acquired by private equity. During the 6- month engagement designed and negotiated cash application and lock box services, instituted a budgeting process, P&C and Healthcare renewals for self-insured programs, reorganized accounting staff of two merged companies, developed financial reporting for Board of Directors and recruited and hired replacement.
  • As a ‘subject matter expert’ was responsible for the design from ‘the ground up’ a distribution and retail operation of parts for one of the large auto companies. Roll focused on supply chain and financial operational design, buy in from client, working with software developers of Microsoft AX enterprise system. Nine month project went live on time and under budget.
  • Performed operational review of newly acquired distribution focused on supply chain and logistics issued. During this “First 100 day” engagement, discovered significant cash flow and underperforming inventory issues related back to warranty process. Redesigned process, redesigned flow of warehouse and improved logistics capabilities.
  • Conducted training, risk assessment, drafted cybersecurity incident response plans and Board presentation for several companies ranging from Fortune 500 to regional hospitals.
  • Frequent speaker at international and national conferences in the area of crisis risk identification and preparation ethics and negotiation strategies and tactics.

Mr. Healey authored the Business Crisis Diagnostic and Prevention Model™ which provide businesses with the framework necessary to identify impending business crises before they occur. This Model can help identify the hidden risks inherent in an organization in order to develop containment plans prior to the loss of profits, reputation or associate well-being. This model has been used effectively by his clients to resolve complicated business crises and manage the consequences associated with fraud, product recall, data breach, workplace violence and activist shareholders.

He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified in Financial Forensics, Certified Fraud Examiner and holds AICPA certificates in SOC for Cybersecurity and Cybersecurity Assurance Services. He has served on the Board of Directors for Industrial Distribution Group’s subsidiaries, True Nature Holdings (TNTY) as well as private companies and advisory board positions.

Prior to Bear Hill Advisory Group, Mr. Healey was Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary for Industrial Distribution Group, (NYSE: IDG, NASDAQ: IDGR). He was a Partner in Charge of Assurance Services for a regional CPA firm and started his career with Ernst & Young, LLP as a Senior Auditor. His industry expertise includes: Wholesale Distribution, Manufacturing, Property and Casualty Insurance, Hospitality, Restaurants, Retail and Commercial Real Estate.

Mr. Healey is a member of the Business Advisory Board for the Lubin School of Accounting, Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University. He has been a guest lecturer at Syracuse University, Kennesaw State University, University of Dayton, Georgia Tech and University of Alabama, and has been published or quoted in several business websites and magazines. He has been a speaker at several international conferences on the topics of ethics, cybersecurity, negotiations and risk assessment. He holds a B.S. – Accounting/CPA from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
